I have a question: Why are the drive slots on CAT toolholders still unequal? I assume there was a reason they were designed that way. The left drawing shows the 0.105" difference in slot depth. This creates a lot of imbalance that must be countered by removing material on the opposite side. It also runs the risk of the tool being mis-loaded in the spindle. The drawbar will still pull in the toolholder, but the taper wouldn't be seated properly.
The drawing on the right the slots are equal. Wouldn't this make more sense?
